AeroSmart and IATA Celebrate Strategic Alliance

AeroSmart has entered into a strategic business partnership with IATA, the International Airline Transport Association, to further promote the global issue of inadvertent slide deployment (ISD).

ISD costs airlines millions in lost revenue on an annual basis as well as the associated knock-on effects of grounded aircraft and the logistics of dealing with stranded passengers. It is considered one of the industry’s hidden problems.

IATA is actively involved in all areas of cabin safety, including ISD,
so considers AeroSmart’s unique, patented electronic device, the Smarthandle™, a perfect fit to help combat this problem.

Mike Farmer, managing director, AeroSmart comments: “We have been closely monitoring IATA’s excellent work into the whole problem of ISD and are delighted to have the opportunity to join our combined strengths to offer airlines a cost effective and credible solution to help eradicate it.

“This is a significant step forward and we are looking forward to sharing our expertise at a number of key IATA events throughout the year.”

IATA has developed a ‘toolkit’, which is freely available for download on its website, to assist all those involved in the management, training and prevention of ISD. It has also invited AeroSmart to attend its Cabin Safety Working Group Meetings, which will provide a platform to share practical help and advice on ISD with member companies throughout the world.
